Job Description

Middle School Math Teacher

About Prelude Prep
Prelude Prep is a public charter school on the Southside of San Antonio. We're a close-knit, mission-driven community committed to helping every child succeed. Our classrooms are places where students work hard, think critically, and also have time for collaborative activities, exploration, and just being kids.

We hold high expectations for our students and ourselves. At the same time, we believe learning should be joyful, and that strong relationships are the key to lasting growth.

Why Join Our Team?

  • Small class sizes so you can build meaningful connections with students

  • Weekly coaching and planning time to support your professional growth

  • A collaborative culture where teachers share ideas and celebrate wins together

  • A chance to be part of a school that believes all kids can achieve

Who We're Looking For
We're looking for educators who bring experience and passion to help students excel in math. If you have a background in guiding children to meet ambitious goals—or you're newer to the classroom but can show evidence of your impact—we'd love to connect.

We especially value educators who:

  • Believe every child can excel when held to high expectations

  • Know that creativity, exploration, and collaboration are essential to learning

  • Enjoy working as part of a supportive, reflective team

  • Have strong classroom management and communication skills

  • Are flexible and open to new ideas

What You'll Do
As our Middle School Math Teacher, you will:

  • Implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)

  • Deliver rigorous, relevant instruction in math, including problem-solving and critical thinking

  • Use performance data to provide targeted instruction and support individual student growth

  • Analyze and adjust lessons to meet diverse learning needs, including collaborating with special education staff to modify curricula

  • Create a positive, structured classroom environment where students feel respected, challenged, and motivated

  • Balance high academic expectations with opportunities for collaborative activities and exploration

  • Communicate regularly with families about student progress

  • Participate in coaching, professional development, and school community events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (required)

  • Texas teaching certificate (preferred but not required)

  • At least one year of successful teaching experience strongly preferred

  • We prioritize candidates who can show evidence of student success—this can include:

    • Achievement data

    • Portfolios or student work samples

    • Recommendation letters

  • Commitment to continuous professional growth

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and demonstrated results

  • Sign-on bonuses and stipends available for teachers with a record of student success

  • Comprehensive health insurance options

  • Participation in retirement plans

  • Weekly coaching and professional development

  • A supportive, collaborative staff environment

Our Core Values
At Prelude Prep, we model and teach:

  • Excellence

  • Determination

  • Respect
